First Stop - 1888 Hotel - Sydney

  First Stop - 1888 Hotel - Sydney

I have been extremely lucky with choosing my first stop on this travel.
The place I booked spontaneously at the airport arriving in Sydney is the 1888 Hotel.
Built in 1888 the hotel is located in the beautiful Darling Harbour area of Sydney. The building itself is an old wool factory and the hotel just opened last week Wednesday. The hotel is a well mixture of modern and well restored old. Walking through the entrace a nice entrance hall and courtyard greets you with large strong wooden floor beams exposed, some couches, tables and the dinning area. The floor in the center of the hotel was cut out to create space and a beautiful cool courtyard.

The rooms, some nice and cozy with a beautiful bathroom facing the courtyard,  some larger with great old windows with extra glazing for insulation and to keep the little noise from the quiet side street in Pyrmont outside. The rooms friendly and foremost very practical arranged. The counters and table across the entire hotel are made of the old wood that was pulled out of the building during restoration. Well done restoration and great recycling effort I would judge. What better way to reuse old building material
.
I am certain on my next stop in Sydney I know where to stay for the night. Next time I may also stop in for a visit to the Maritime Museum and the other attractions within a 5 to 10 minute stroll.

So almost done with breakfast, a bowl of yogurt with fruits and a french toast with fried eggs and a cuppa of tea served by the friendly waitress Claudia.

Hello Everybody

I am off on travels again and take this occasion to restart my blog.

My first day started with a nice half hour run around Darling Harbour in Sydney. A great way to start the day, especiallya s this I believe has been the first run since Point to Pinnacles last November.
Well Well it felt great, finishing it off with as short yoga sequence in the hotel room, now off to breaky and then onward to the airport.

Talk to you soon
and hopefully I will find a computer to upload some pictures from time to time
